How to remove offensive odor at home (room by room)

Laundry room

Eliminating dirt in the laundry room is important to remove offensive odors at home. The washing machine and dirty clothes are majorly responsible for the odor in this room. If you keep trash in the laundry room, you would want to consider taking them out to remove lingering odor. You can clean your washer by running hot water when the machine is empty. Wash the interior with baking soda and vinegar and ensure that the lid is kept open when it is not in use.

Bathroom

The toilet is usually the main culprit when it comes to odors in the bathroom. You need to keep the toilet clean always because it may appear clean and still be smelly. To prevent odor, ensure that the toilets are cleaned before that start to appear dirty. Pour a cup of vinegar into the toilet and leave it to sit for 10 minutes before scrubbing to remove odor. The same can also be done for the bathroom to keep it clean. Other ways to remove bathroom odor include lighting scented candles and opening the windows for ventilation.

Kitchen

A clean kitchen should also be maintained to remove odors at home. The trash and the fridge are usually responsible for odors in this part of the house. Spills and spoiled groceries are responsible for the odor in the kitchen.  Leaving open containers of food can also contribute to the odor from the refrigerator.  Make a solution of baking soda and water to clean the fridge. In addition, ensure that groceries are properly wrapper and take out the spoiled ones to prevent odor. The garbage disposal and trashcan should also be cleaned regularly to prevent a smelly kitchen.

Bedroom

Why causes odors in the bedroom? The mattress and the clothes are usually the main culprits here. These items accumulate dead skin cells and sweat which cause an odor in the long run. Sprinkle some baking soda on your mattress and vacuum it to remove the odor. The mattress should be vacuumed at least twice a year. In addition, ensure that dirty clothes do not remain in the room for long. Wash them as soon as possible to prevent mold and accumulation of more dirt.
